In 2015 we rolled out our brand new Rotaract Training model. The full program was run in the Eastern Region (NSW & ACT) and the Southern Region (Vic & Tas), and with support from Rotaract Australia in Adelaide, we’ve seen over 150 people attend training. Excitingly, there is more training to come with Northern Region (Qld) and Western Region (WA & SA, to be held in Perth) hosting training over the next 6 weeks.

The full training program, run in Eastern, Southern and Western Regions, encompasses 2 full days of workshops & presentations. From Friday night through until Sunday evening, there are tailored workshops for President Elects and their Vice Presidents, whilst Saturday night and Sunday provide an experience for all other Club Officers. The program covers topics such as Leadership, Communication, Conflict Management, Legal Requirements, as well as specific breakout sessions for each role.

Eastern Region training provided the platform to begin an exchange program with the Big West MDIO, Western North America. A huge thank you must go out to renowned US Rotaractor turned Rotarian Mitty Chang, past General Secretary of the Big West MDIO, who enlightened all those that attended Eastern training through his Membership & Engagement session. Mitty’s Rotaract knowledge and experience is incredible, and combined with his his infectious enthusiasm and wonderful icebreaker activities, provided a lot for the attendees. We plan to build on the exchange platform by sending 2015-16 Chairperson Jake Weragoda to the Big West Rotaract Institute in California in July.
