Nomination Process

Anyone who is currently a member of a Rotaract or Rotary club in Australia, Timor Leste, PNG, Nauru and Solomon Islands, or was a member during the period for which nominations are valid, can submit a nomination. Self-nominations are accepted and all nominations will be confidential. Nominations will be seen by at least two members of the Rotaract Australia Executive.

Required Documentation

Nomination materials should consist of the following:

  • Submission through the online form, and
  • An email containing further evidence, in the form of any relevant photos or videos
    that may be shared with the general public.
Eligibility for 2021 Awards

The awards are limited to those nominations which meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Provisional or Chartered Rotaract clubs situated in Australia, Timor Leste, PNG, Nauru and Solomon Islands
  • Activities undertaken in the previous calendar year (between January 1st 2020 and December 31st 2020)
  • If an annual project or event won an award last year it is not eligible to win the same award again this year
Criteria for Awards

Award nominees will have demonstrated one or more of the following:

  • supporting an issue identified in the community
  • community impact
  • community or member engagement

In the event that information comes to light after an award is presented, that would have invalidated the recipient had it been known at the time, an award may be redacted at the discretion of the Rotaract Australia Executive.

 

2021 Award Categories 

 

Most Outstanding Project/Event Held During Lockdown

A one-off award to recognise the creative and unique projects and/or events clubs undertaken by Rotaract Club’s while in government-mandated lockdown(s) due to COVID-19 in the calendar year of 2020.

Additional Criteria

Award nominees will have demonstrated one or more of the following:

  • Project/Event held during government-mandated lockdown (due to management of the COVID-19 pandemic) for the local area in which a club is based.
  • Engagement of club members in organising or attending the project/event.

Note: for the purpose of this award, Rotaract Australia defines “government-mandated lockdown” as any period in which clubs were not able to meet in person.

 

 

Best Project/Event by a Provisional Club

To recognise the most outstanding project or event created, organised and run by a provisional Rotaract Club (ie. a club that has not yet chartered or had not chartered when the project/event was held).

Additional Criteria

Award nominees must be a:

  • club that had not yet chartered at the time of the project or event

In addition, the award nominees will have demonstrated one or more of the following:

  • Supporting a need or the management of an issue identified in/by the community
  • Community impact (awareness, financial support)
  • Community/member engagement

 

Best Alumni Engagement

To recognise the most outstanding project/event created, organised and run by a Rotaract Club to engage Rotary program alumni.

Additional Criteria

Award nominees will have demonstrated one or more of the following:

  • partnership or project with Rotary program alumni from one or more of the following Programs
    • Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA)
    • Rotary Youth Exchange (RYE)
    • Rotary Program of Enrichment (RYPEN)
    • National Youth Science Forum (NYSF)
    • Rotary Peace Scholar
    • Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar,
    • Interact;
    • other program supported or sponsored by Rotary and Rotaract clubs
  • Supporting a need or the management of an issue identified in/by the community
  • Community impact (awareness, financial support)
  • Community/member engagement

 

Best Engagement/Partnership with a Rotary Club

To recognise the most outstanding project/event created, organised and run by a Rotaract Club in partnership with a Rotary Club.

Additional Criteria

Award nominees will have demonstrated one or more of the following:

  • Partnership with a Rotary Club (Rotary Club does not have to be locally based)
  • Supporting a need or the management of an issue identified in/by the community
  • Community impact (awareness, financial support)
  • Community/member engagement

 

Best Professional Development Event/Project

To recognise the most outstanding project/event focused on professional development organised by a Rotaract Club.

Additional Criteria

Award nominees will have demonstrated one or more of the following:

  • Supporting member professional development
  • Member and community engagement

 

Highest Membership Increase

Please note Rotaract Clubs that have started this year, ie. from 0, or are not yet chartered are not eligible to enter.

Additional Criteria

Award nominees will have demonstrated one or more of the following:

  • More than 20% increase in members from the start of the eligibility period
  • All current members registered on MyRotary
  • Provisional Clubs are not eligible

 

Highest Fundraising Club

To recognise the Rotaract Club which has raised the most funds in the past calendar year.

Additional Criteria

Award nominees will have demonstrated one or more of the following:

  • raised more than AU$10,000 in the eligibility period
  • for 2020, have raised more than $5000 in the eligibility period to recognise the significant impact COVID-19 has had on fundraising

 

Highest Number of Volunteer Hours

To recognise the Roaract Club that has given the most volunteer hours in total over the past calendar year.

Additional Criteria

Award nominees will have demonstrated one or more of the following:

  • For chartered clubs, all members must be registered in MyRotary for their hours to count
  • Eligible activities:
    • hands-on volunteering (eg. rubbish collection, tree planting, sausage sizzle)
    • planning and project-specific meetings, including with businesses or club partners
    • project or event days (eg. packing school bags)
  • Regular club meetings are not eligible
  • Administration, such as attending a bank or writing an AGM report is not eligible

 

Most Fun/Creative Event

To recognise the most fun or creative project/event created, organised and run by a Rotaract Club.

Additional Criteria

Award nominees will have demonstrated one or more of the following:

  • Supporting a need or the management of an issue identified in/by the community
  • Community impact (awareness, financial support)
  • Community/member engagement

 

 

Best Engagement of Community

To recognise the most outstanding project/event created, organised and run by a Rotaract Club that engaged the local, national or international community.

Additional Criteria

Award nominees will have demonstrated one or more of the following:

  • Supporting a need or the management of an issue identified in/by the community
  • Community impact (awareness, financial support)
  • Community/member engagement

 

 

Sustainability Award

To recognise Rotaract clubs that organise and/or run sustainable projects or events. They may not raise the most money, have the largest number of attendees or be as large but do have an impact on the community every year.

Additional Criteria

Award nominees will have demonstrated one or more of the following:

  • A project or event that has been run for more than one year
  • Supporting a need or the management of an issue identified in/by the community
  • Community impact (awareness, financial support)
  • Community/member engagement

 

 

Most Outstanding Project

To recognise the most outstanding project created, organised and run by a Rotaract Club.

Additional Criteria

Award nominees will have demonstrated one or more of the following:

  • Supporting an issue identified in the community
  • Community impact
  • Community/member engagement

 

 

Most Outstanding Event

To recognise the most outstanding (single) event created, organised and run by a Rotaract Club.

Additional Criteria

Award nominees will have demonstrated one or more of the following:

  • Supporting a need or the management of an issue identified in/by the community
  • Community impact (awareness, financial support)
  • Community/member engagement

 

 

Member Award for 10 Years of Service to Rotaract

To recognise members who have given 10 years of service to Rotaract as of May 2021.

Additional Criteria

Award nominees will have demonstrated one or more of the following:

  • Service to Rotaract for 10 years
  • Member must have maintained club membership for 10 years
    • Exceptions will be permitted at the discretion of the Rotaract Australia executive board
  • Member must be a current member in good standing at the time of the nomination
    • If member started the year in a Rotaract Club and has moved to a Rotary Club in the same Rotaract year, their Rotaract membership can be considered current
  • Member may have changed clubs during the 10 years
  • Member must embody the values of Rotaract and Rotary

 

Rotaractor of the Year

To recognise an outstanding member of Rotaract.

Additional Criteria

Award nominees will have demonstrated one or more of the following:

  • Gone above and beyond what is expected of them
  • Further themselves during their service to Rotaract
  • Be a member of good standing
  • Embody the values of Rotaract and Rotary

In the event that no eligible nominations are received, the award will not be awarded.
