National Awards

 

Rotaract Australia is proud to showcase the fantastic work of Rotaractors, clubs and districts at annual awards ceremony. In 2023 these awards will be presented on February 3 2024 at the Awards Night at the Australian Rotaract Games 2024 .

Nomination Process

Anyone who is currently a member of a Rotaract or Rotary club in Australia, Timor Leste, PNG, Nauru and Solomon Islands, or was a member during the period for which nominations are valid, can submit a nomination. Self-nominations are accepted and all nominations will be confidential. Nominations will be seen by at least two members of the Rotaract Australia Executive members.

Required Documentation

Nomination materials should consist of the following:

  • Submission through the online form, and
  • An email containing further evidence, in the form of any relevant photos or videos that may be shared with the general public.
Eligibility for 2023 Awards

The awards are generally limited to those nominations which meet the following eligibility criteria. Please see specific award criteria for any additional eligibility requirements.

  • For club awards, provisional or Chartered Rotaract clubs situated in Australia, Timor Leste, Papua New Guinea, Nauru, or Solomon Islands;
  • For individual awards, members of provisional or Chartered Rotaract clubs situated in Australia, Timor Leste, Papua New Guinea, Nauru, or Solomon Islands;
  • Activities undertaken between 1 July 2022 and 1 June 2023.
  • Any projects or events that, or individuals who, were previously recipients of an award last year, 2022-23, are not eligible for nomination under the same category for this year.

Criteria for Awards

Award nominees will have demonstrated one or more of the following:

  • supporting an issue identified in the community
  • community impact
  • community or member engagement

In the event that information comes to light after an award is presented, that would have invalidated the recipient had it been known at the time, an award may be redacted at the discretion of the Rotaract Australia Executive.

2023 Award Categories 

 

Most Outstanding Local Project / Event

Description

The Most Outstanding Local Project / Event award is to recognise an exemplary project, or event, organised and undertaken by a Rotaract club.

Criteria

Award recipients will have demonstrated one or more of the following:

  • Supported a need, or assisted in the management of an issue, identified in/by the community in the club’s country of residence;
  • Delivered community impact (awareness, financial support);
  • Engagement of the membership and community;
  • Originality of the project.

Most Outstanding International Project / Event

Description

The Most Outstanding International Project / Event award is to recognise an exemplary project, or event, organised and undertaken by a Rotaract club.

Criteria

Award recipients will have demonstrated one or more of the following:

  • Supported a need, or assisted in the management of an issue, identified in/by a community outside of the club’s country of residence;
  • Delivered community impact (awareness, financial support);
  • Engagement of the membership and community;
  • Originality of the project.

Most Outstanding Rotaract / Rotary Partnership

Description

The Most Outstanding Rotaract / Rotary Partnership award is to recognise an exemplary partnership between Rotaract and Rotary clubs that has been engaged in undertaking an activity or project.

Criteria

Award recipients will have demonstrated one or more of the following:

  • Engaged with one or more Rotary clubs as part of the activity undertaken;
    • The Rotaract and Rotary club(s) do not need to be in the same locality;
  • Supported a need, or assisted in the management of an issue, identified in/by the community;
  • Delivered community impact (awareness, financial support);
  • Engagement of the membership and community;
  • Originality of the project.

Rotaract Supporter of the Year

Description

The Rotaract Supporter of the Year award is to recognise a non-Rotaractor who has gone above and beyond in support of Rotaract and Rotaractors, at any level. This supporter is someone who has enabled and supported Rotaract to best serve the local and global community.

Individual

Criteria

Award nominees will have demonstrated one or more of the following:

  • Consistently and substantially exceeded expectations;
  • Performed at a level above and beyond normal requirements and expectations;
  • Has made important and significant contributions in support of Rotaract and/or Rotaractors;
  • This awardee must NOT be a Rotaractor (incl. dual member) at the time of the nomination.

Rotaractor of the Year

Description

The Rotaractor of the Year award is to recognise a Rotaractor who has gone above and beyond in their service to their club, district or in other Rotary service.

Criteria

Award nominees will have demonstrated one or more of the following:

  • Consistently and substantially exceeded expectations;
  • Performed at a level above and beyond normal requirements and expectations;
  • Has made important and significant contributions;
  • The member must be a current member in good standing at the time of the nomination;
  • Demonstrated commitment to Rotaract’s mission and core values.

Member Award for 10 Years of Service to Rotaract

Description

The Member award recognises those members who have demonstrated active service to Rotaract and Rotary consistently over an extended period of time. Members nominated for this award will be highlighted at the awards ceremony and receive recognition through Rotaract Australia’s social media channels.

Criteria

Award nominees will have demonstrated one or more of the following:

  • Service to Rotaract for 10 years, where:
    • The member may have changed clubs during the 10 years;
    • The member must have maintained club membership for 10 years;
      • Exceptions will be permitted at the discretion of the Rotaract Australia executive board
    • The member must be a current member in good standing at the time of the nomination;
      • If member started the year in a Rotaract Club and has moved to a Rotary Club in the same Rotaract year, their Rotaract membership can be considered current;
    • The member must demonstrate continued commitment to the values of Rotaract and Rotary.
