Rotaract Australia Donates ShelterBoxes

As we’re all no doubt aware, Nepal was recently hit with a devastating 7.8 magnitude earthquake. At least 7,000 people have been confirmed dead with more than 14,000 injured.

The quake occurred between the major cities of Kathmandu and Pokhara, causing extensive damage to homes and buildings, with tremors felt as far away as Delhi in India.

ShelterBox is already in talks with several aid agencies and Rotary contacts based in Nepal to see where they can help.  ShelterBox already have aid, including tents, prepositioned in the country, which could be used as emergency clinics, as well as shelters in the immediate aftermath.

Rotaract Australia has responded immediately to the cries for help. With several of our Rotaractors and Rotaract Clubs having close ties to those in Nepal, we must do everything we can to support.

A collaborative effort has seen Rotaract Australia contribute through ShelterBox. We are aiming to raise $10,000, the equivalent of 10 ShelterBoxes, to help those in need. Donations are tax deductible.

Rotary is a project partner of ShelterBox. For more information on what is in a ShelterBox click here.
