Why Would I Get Involved?

Movember is the leading global organisation committed to changing the face of men’s health. This is achieved by challenging men to grow moustaches during Movember (the month formerly known as November) to spark conversation and raise funds for prostate cancer, testicular cancer and mental health problems. Movember has raised more than $580 million and funded more than 800 programs to date!

Men (also known as Mo Bros) who grow a ‘tache during Movember become walking, talking billboards, enabling them to spark conversations around the often ignored issue of men’s health. Movember is not just for men. Women who support men’s health (known as Mo Sistas) are an important part of Movember’s success, getting involved like the lads (without the moustache!). Women help to fundraise (we’ve sold mo shaped cookies) and get involved in events, as well as start conversations – check out some ideas here.

Movember 2013 was Rotaract’s inaugural year and a huge success. The Rotaract Australia team made up of 51 Rotaractors, Rotarians and friends banded together to raise a massive $10,526, placing us inside the top 160 teams nationally.

We are hoping to take our fundraising efforts to another level in 2014, with your participation and support vital for success. If you raise $100 you will get a ticket to a Gala Party in your capital city. In Sydney, this means Luna Park with unlimited free rides and dancing to a great band (like EskiMO Joe in 2013).

Getting involved is a lot more powerful than just donating! Don’t worry about your poor facial-hair-growing skills; it’s for a great cause!
